I have a few friends who desire to be involved in modeling. Modeling itself is not intrinsically sinful. You can very well be both a Christian and a model. The two aren’t polarizing,however, I think there is some wisdom and discernment that must accompany anyone pursuing this field. Here are 10 quick things a Christian desiring a career in modeling MUST consider.

10: What might a particular photo shoot communicate about my witness(testimony) and about my professed faith? Might it blemish my witness among unbelievers and offend the brethren?

9: Will agencies and photographers ask me to do shoots that compromise my integrity or values?And ,if so…

8: …am I mature enough in my faith to turn down opportunities that come at a compromise to my values?

7: As a man or woman can my photographs draw the attention of the opposite sex and tempt them to stumble into lust?

6: Am I willing to hold fast to strict biblical standards of modesty without excuse even if it may cost me my career?

For Women:[This includes, but is not limited to, abstaining from photos that are sexually suggestive, photos that display little or no clothing, immodestly cut clothing that displays cleavage, buttocks, or even a silhouette that displays curvature that might entice the eye,etc.]

For Men:[This includes, but is not limited to, abstaining from photos that are sexually suggestive, photos that display little or no clothing, immodestly cut clothing that displays musculature that might entice the eye,etc.] 

5: Does my position honor God and bear witness of Christ?

4: What ultimately is my motivation (to  be seen of men, to be ogled, lifted up, glorified, etc.)?

3: Have you sought the Lord’s will in this matter or decided upon yourself that this what YOU want to pursue?

2:  Can my photos draw attention unto myself and away from God (whom I should be reflecting)?

1. Does this communicate the first and greatest commandment to love the Lord thy God with my heart, soul, and strength? Am I doing this unto the glory of God? Is God on display as my Lord?
